Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has almost confirmed that Bitcoin's Lightning network will be included in the payment folder and app of his other company, Square.
Focus on speed and efficiency
Speak on the Stephan Livera Podcast February 11, Dorsey, with Lightning Labs CEO Elizabeth Stark, on Lightning's ideals and his personal belief in the protocol.
When asked if this would lead to integration with Square's cash app, the answer was surprisingly open.
"We would like to do it [Bitcoin] as fast and efficient and transactional as possible, and that includes looking at our seller base and our register, "he said.
It's not an "if", it's more a "when" – how do we make sure we get the speed we need and the efficiency?
The comments came just days after Dorsey personally endorsed Bitcoin on Twitter while accepting an invitation to participate in the redirection transaction "Lightning Network's Torch". Launched last month, the initiative involves a relay transaction that is sent between network users to increase awareness and test their technical capabilities.
The podcast interview itself was also organized on the back of the torch activities.
"What I want to find out for myself in terms of running a business is how we can continue to develop that openness, how can we continue to be good citizens in this community … helping that community achieve this without being assigned to them … the luggage that comes with a company, "Dorsey summed up.
Dorsey bets on Bitcoin (not Altcoins)
As Lightning continues to grow both in size and in stability, Torch has become increasingly important. In addition to Jack Dorsey, several well-known crypto currency numbers have brought the project to the public. Bitcoinist Report on how several of Tesla founder Elon Musk called for participation.
Regardless, Dorsey has pledged its belief in Bitcoin as the first choice for a cryptocurrency that becomes the "native" to the Internet.
In other Twitter comments, he also expressed a lack of interest in holding Altcoins and added that in the podcast all meaningful functions could be set instead to Bitcoin.
"It feels like it's the one that wants to be the most currency," he told Livera.
