Those of us who closely follow IOTA and the various use cases developed using the new technology behind this DLT know that one of the areas in which IOTA can contribute to the development of great solutions is eHealth.
Because of this, some community developers have decided to develop projects that will help improve certain aspects of this area.
This is the case of Dennis Schouten, IOTA Community and IOTA Evangelist Network member, who founded Skaly with Peter Willemsen and Stan Scharnigg. Today we will invest time to get to know him and this new software using IOTA technology.
Content Coordinator & Writer
Hello Dennis, can you tell us something about you? What is your background?
My name is Dennis Schouten and I live in the Netherlands, where I studied HR with a focus on ICT. I held various management positions, implementing various IT systems, from SAP to the registration management system. Decided to found in 2011 a company dealing with CV indexing systems. After that he became a freelancer and discovered the world of Blockchain.
You work in the computer software industry, you are used to innovation, but how did you discover the world of DLT in this new era of IoT?
I think that for the next century, innovation will be the greatest Achilles heel of humanity. Will we innovate to help humanity, or will we innovate to destroy it? For me, innovation is all about achieving a better world for all and making life easier, connected and safer. I did not start for myself IoT and discovered the true miracle behind it JOTA, All I knew before was the old dinosaurs; BTC, LTC and EthereumAll crypto-based solutions build on mining and charging. After I discovered IOTA In the spring of 2017, I was immediately fascinated by how IOTA wanted to change the world and set up a basic protocol for the IoT industry. I started reading the white paper (which was technical and at a certain point) and started interacting with other like-minded people.
What were your first thoughts when you learned about IOTA?
My first thoughts were that this was an amazing project. The more I read and talk about it, the more I was inspired by this new technology. Yes, I knew what IoT was, but never took it seriously before I came across IOTA. This room is not about immediate, stunning conversations, but the development of IOTA into something immeasurable. Not immensely like the followers, but the concept behind it, the industry that needed a better solution to streamline the data, the industry's CEO, who came on board and helped IOTA claim its rightful place in the IoT industry ,
What do you think about the blockchain technology?
Blockchain is here to stay. I think we should always look back and see how everything started in this room. Is Blockchain a solution? Yes, some technologies are better integrated into a blockchain than a DAG. But everything depends on innovation. After all, the few who are always innovative in this new industry and present new projects will be the winners.
It reminds me of two other moments that disturbed the world. First, the Internet and second, the phone. These two industries have changed our world quickly, but at an accelerating pace. This also applies to IOTA and other innovative solutions in the blockchain / DLT industry. Anyone who stops is eaten because we are developing every day to the same future size of the Internet / mobile phone.
IOTA can intervene in many areas to optimize the services. You have decided to attack the health sector with your SKALY project. Can you tell us something about it?
Yes, it is true that there are many services in different industries that IOTA can optimize, but how we ultimately focused on the healthcare industry recognize the potential in this industry, After reading an article on the percentage of obesity in the Middle East, I noticed the lightning. I'm always looking for global opportunities and have seen a chance here. I quickly started brainstorming for myself and after a few hours I contacted Peter Willemsen and Stan ScharniggCo-founder of SKALY and talked to them about my idea and how we can implement IOTA in the healthcare industry.
