Users of Sube's rechargeable contactless chip card (Sistema Único de Boleto Electrónico) may start financing with BTC for use in 37 Argentine cities starting Thursday, according to local news agency cripto247.

These cards are advertised by the Argentine Ministry of Transport and serve to pay for public transport services throughout Argentina. They apply to "buses, trains, subways and motorboats" as stated on the government website. "To travel by bus or metro in Buenos Aires, you need a rechargeable sub-card," notes the tourism website of Buenos Aires.

The BTC recharge of these cards is possible through the integration of the online ticket financing platform Alto Viaje and the fintech startup Bitex. Alto Viaje is listed on the government's official Sube website as one of the providers cardholders can use to fund their accounts. Alto Viaje explains on his website:

Sube is the only card that allows you to pay for public transport throughout Argentina.

Alto Viaje and Bitex

Alto Viaje now offers two sub-card financing methods: Paypal and BTC. Soon, according to their website, the platform will raise funds through Rapipago. "Alto Viaje has decided to use the Bitex infrastructure for the technology and the liquidity necessary for a project of this size."

Bitex, CMO Manuel Beaudroit, was quoted by the news agency as saying, "We believe that this type of project is of great importance, as technology is brought to ordinary people as bothersomely as bitcoin and demonstrates the true value and applications of everyday life , He added that the minimum funding requirement in BTC is 50 Argentine pesos (~ $ 1.32).
