One of the hitherto most confused imbroglios in the crypto industry has been evolving even lately as Internet hassles stumbled over odd records. They claim that a Reddit user who has been in Bitcoin trading forums, particularly to publish pictures of high-ticket deals, is Michael Patryn, alleged co-founder of the nefarious Canadian stock exchange QuadrigaCX.
The co-founder of QuadrigaCX liked the Bitcoin cubes
According to a report by The Block, which has put together these rumors, a reddit user nicknamed "MikeXBT" might well be Patryn, the co-founder of the aforementioned exchange trading, who has founders of a health problem and a value of 140 Millions lost the cryptocurrencies in December. Of course, Mike is the acronym for Michael and XBT as a Bitcoin ticker symbol on a number of exchanges, Seychelles' BitMEX.
After searching the user's extensive Reddit history focused on Bitcoin, The Block discovered that MikeXBT had hinted that he was a shareholder of QuadrigaCX and responded to a request to attend a shareholders' meeting of the Vancouver-based company. The Reddit user, who contributed to the theory that MikeXBT is Patryn, once responded to a commentator who addressed him as Patryn. In addition, Canadian bitcoiner Francis Pouliot once nominated Patryn for an internship at the Bitcoin Alliance, where the nominator almost mentioned the grip on one character.
With MikeXBT as Patryn, also known as Omar Dhanani, a criminal who has been laundering for 18 months, The Block has gone into his trading habits. In a series of appearances at BitcoinMarkets subreddit, a popular forum for traders, Patryn commented that he was able to take millions of dollars of longs and shorts on BitMEX. An alleged log of some of the user's trades can be seen below.

Evidence suggests that Patryn has made such multimillion-dollar deals, and some have begun to question the intentions of the shadowy QuadrigaCX executive. While it is highly probable that MikeXBT acted out of his own pocket, some cynics have speculated that Patryn has taken a risk (possibly with client funds) to support the Canadian exchange.
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong recently reported that QuadrigaCX has been trading on client money to return to some degree of financial stability. The San Francisco-based industry insider pointed to the Coinbase research team and their own understanding of these grievances. He pointed out that the company has a considerable opportunity to trade money in order to "get out of a hole". However, Armstrong made that clear. It is true even, these attempts were in vain, as the mistakes of QuadrigaCX caught up with them. And as some would say, the rest is history.
Cold purses empty since April 2018
This is because key researchers in this case, including Big Four auditor Ernst & Young, have confirmed that the addresses tied to the contested platform have not been dried for months. According to earlier reports by Blockonomi, blockchain researcher James Edwards announced that 649,708 ethers, which had a value in excess of $ 100 million at the time of the transfer, left the Ethereum wallets of the Bitfinex and Poloniex exchanges in December 2018 a few days before the death of founder Gerald Cottenotten.
Days after the Edwards report, Ernst & Young, an important facet of QuadrigaCX's ongoing litigation, revealed that the Bitcoin wallets of the stock exchange have been empty since 2018. Not just at the end of 2018, but in April 2018. The examiner countered Affidavit, submitted by Jennifer Robertson, Cottens widow, that in the addresses linked to QuadrigaCX there are not tens of millions of BTC, but "zero".
It is clear that this multi-month debacle will not find a solution soon. Why do Fortune Fortune say that the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) could work together to bring out what really happened?
